What are you searching for?

What are you searching for?

Wandering around aimlessly looking for something eventually gets you nowhere. Especially if you don’t have a clue of where to find it. But what if you don’t even know what you are really searching for?

There are a diverse collection of songs that tell us of the wandering soul looking for love, freedom, happiness, or a good time. While another famous rock singer tells us that he hasn’t found what he is looking for. Some artists bemoan to us that the thing they are looking for is being sought in all the wrong places. So there appears to be a fair amount of people having a hard time finding the thing that they are seeking out the most.

The journey of discovery begins first with a question. The question that I present to you to reflect on is, ““What are you searching for?” Is it happiness, fulfillment, pleasure, success, purpose, meaning, or peace of mind? Have you found them? All those things are important. Yet, what we are concerned the most here at Search429.com is you discovering God.

Does your search include God in the picture?

Some view God as an inanimate object that is unreachable and far of in the distance. Other world-views on God would have us believe that God is not interested in his creation. But theism, the worldview held by christian believers, declares that God is very much involved with his creation. He is an unique person who is very well concerned with making himself known to those who have a desire to find him.

But from there you will search again for the Lord your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him. Deuteronomy 4:29 (NLT)

Unfortunately like many other experiences people try to find God in all the wrong places. In the process some have given up all together in trying to find him. While others continue the search, and grow increasingly frustrated that it appears that he is nowhere to be found. But thankfully, God has distinctly told us how he can be found. And provided two unique ways in which he has revealed himself to us.

They are known in the field of Theology (study of God) as special and general revelation. In the coming weeks we are going to explore these more in detail, but to give you an example of what is to come:

Special revelation:

  • God has revealed himself in the life of his Son, Jesus Christ.
  • God has revealed himself in the Bible, the Word of God.

General Revelation:

  • God can be understood or is revealed through his creation.

You don’t have to wander aimlessly looking for God. By understanding how God has revealed himself to us you can look for him in all the right places. Hopefully in your search you make search429.com a part of your plan in seeking God with all your heart and soul.
